Website Security & Google

As the general SEO landscape begins to shift, there is still the same Google notification that every SEO professional dreads receiving:

  • Your site has been hacked.

To achieve great SEO results, you need to make sure your website is not only optimized, but also secure.

Traditionally, only websites selling goods, ie ecommerce websites would be secured with HTTPS. Now we are seeing a change in the landscape  and Google is recommending all websites, no matter the nature, be secured with HTTPS.

Is Your Website Secure?

A range of cyber security attacks threatened individuals and businesses across various sectors in the first half of 2017.

In 2016, cybercrime cost the economy more than $450 billion. The global average cost of a data breach is $3.62 million in 2017.

A vulnerable website is a hacker’s perfect target. Leaving your site unprotected is like giving burglars the keys to your home. Would you leave the keys out for a burglar…. I didn’t think so! Lets not give them the keys to your website.

This is all to common with WordPress websites in particular. We have seen many instances where a free 5* plugin has been added to a website only to see it has been compromised and is actually scanning your website for vulnerabilities

Remember, a website compromise isn’t the only threat you have to worry about.
